What is Sortition?
Sortition is the selection of public decision-makers by random lot — a practice rooted in ancient Athenian democracy. Unlike elections, it removes careerism and party loyalty, placing ordinary inhabitants directly in power.
Why Demographically Weighted?
A raw random draw could, by chance, over-represent one group. DD&SA's model applies stratified sampling: the pool is divided by sex, age band, ethnicity, and education, and seats are drawn proportionally from each stratum.
The Quantum Framing
True random selection requires a source of genuine entropy — unpredictable at the quantum level. This demonstration mimics that principle: each draw is an independent probabilistic collapse, producing an assembly that could not have been predicted or gamed.
