Surrey Heath Assembly

The Surrey Heath Assembly will be the first DD&SA pilot assembly. It will bring together a randomly selected group of residents to examine local issues in depth, hear evidence, and publish recommendations that the wider community can vote on.

This assembly will focus on three core themes identified by residents:

Housing and local development
Local services and community infrastructure
Trust, transparency, and governance

Assembly Overview

Participants

30 residents, to be selected by sortition, balanced across age, sex, geography, and socioeconomic background.

Duration

Four sessions over six weeks, combining expert presentations, resident testimony, and structured deliberation.

Outputs

A full report, evidence pack, and a set of recommendations for public voting.

Next Steps

Once the assembly publishes its recommendations, Surrey Heath residents will be invited to vote directly on the proposed options. This ensures that the final decision reflects both informed deliberation and broad public legitimacy.
